What We Do

Professional Development Luncheons

Physicists follow a wide variety of career trajectories, so we invite speakers from different professions to speak about their work experience.

Social Events

We organize social events for the UMD community, ranging from board games and hiking trips, to bowling and cookie decorating.

Mentoring Program

The program pairs undergraduates and graduate students to form supportive relationships.

Outreach Events

PUGs connects with the broader College Park community through physics-themed events.

We host a variety of workshops, including imposter syndrome workshops.

 Our Mission

Physicists of Underrepresented Genders (PUGs) at the University of Maryland aims to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for UMD physics students of underrepresented genders and create networking and career development opportunities for members.

We are in the process of changing our name from Women in Physics (WiP) to Physicists of Underrepresented Genders.
